Julia Hale is a transcendental painter, specializing in oil and watercolor works. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Minor in Architecture from Cornell University in May 2024. Hale’s art explores metaphysical themes, merging sensory experiences with the physical environment through intuitive abstraction. Her work investigates universal human premonitions through scenes of varying scales. Hale finds inspiration in both solitude and good company, balancing long periods of rest with bursts of creative energy. Her art serves as an ongoing meditation on the relationships between body, spirit, dream, and other.
Hale embraces the “dreamscape,” rendering live, sacred places through delicate introspection. By encrypting natural forms in vibrant color, wash, and line, Hale presents landscapes as visceral and emotive spaces that unravel through time. Color plays a central role in Hale’s work, suggesting a world rich with saturation and energy. Life stages, cycles, and symbolic transformations are represented through this alchemical landscape. By challenging traditional representation, Hale’s dreamscapes evoke intangible feelings and associations, revealing new layers of meaning over time. This reflective process encourages contemplation, meditation, and conversation.
